Glamorous Glasgow , Is the city the fashion hub of Scotland ?

The City of Glasgow is situated in the Central belt of Scotland allowing easy access of Scots from all over , from South Lanakshire to Ayr and to city Rival Edinburgh. The Bonny capital of Scotland is and hour and a half away from Edinburgh but the style of their residents and their shopping areas are significanlty different and reflect the heart of the two different Scottish cities. The main Shopping street in Glasgow is the iconic Buchanan street nicknamed the "style mile" which boasts department store House of Frasers , Princess Square which is brimming with designer shops like Karen Millen and Ted Baker ,Buchanan Galleries which hosts a fantastic range of stores such as Levi's , Next , River Island and much much more. Last Spring Glasgow's Buchanan Street welcomed new shops at the top left hand corner of the style mile known as Buchanan Quarter which consists of American high street store Forever 21 ( a 3 storey fashion treat) , Fat Face , Paper Chase , Gap , Office and Watches of Switzerland. Glaswegians and the general Scottish public are spoiled for choice when they come to Glasgow for a day of shopping as the City is full of high street stores and designer labels so the city caters for shoppers on a budget and shoppers out to flash the cash.

Buchanan Street welcomes New Ted Baker Store :)

At the end of March 2014 , Ted Baker opened its brand new stores doors to the Scottish public and has created a quirky , cool and exciting shopping experience for style conscious men and women. The new store is simply stunning with amazing in store atmospherics and even its own Glasgow individual style with a very cool desk that has the map of Glasgow city center on the front.  The Ted Bakers are effectively laid out in store and the new spring collection is stunning , fresh , innovative , colorful with some prices comfortable whilst other products may put a dent on the credit card. What i found most interesting was a beautiful black Ted Baker satchel names the "Glesca"

Miss Selfridges has recently moved from Buchanan Galleries and is now next to Topshop on Arygle Street which has created a double shopping experience for young stylish fashionistas. Both stores are brimming with the latest stylish , trendy clothes for young women at reasonable prices.

Edinburgh has a different shopping scene than Glasgow which allows them to stand out from their rivals. Edinburgh's most iconic shopping store is Jenner's which is situated on Edinburgh's Princess Street which sells a great range of clothes , beauty products and accessories for women and men. Edinburgh also has a massive Primark for shoppers on a budget , Debenhams and has the designer department store Harvey Nicholas. The fact that Edinburgh has Harvey Nicholas shows that Edinburgh care about their shoppers by setting up camp in Edinburgh in St Andrews Square , a beautiful part of Edinburgh. Edinburgh tends to have more designer shops than Glasgow because Edinburgh tends to be more affluent than Glasgow. It took Edinburgh a  lot longer than Glasgow to add Primark to its shopping street as they didnt want to lower the shopping tone of Princess street but they gave into customer needs and knew that it would help attract even more shoppers to the famous Edinburgh shopping street. Edinburgh is very easy to access with trains to Waverly station and buses from Glasgow leaving Buchanan street station every 15 minutes so a day of shopping in Edinburgh isnt out of reach.

The Duchess of Style and her trendy little Prince

Since November 17th 2010 - The Official engagement date of Kate Middleton and Prince William , the world and the press have had their eye's on the Duchess to be in particular Kate's style choices. Just like her late Mother in law Diana , Kate's style has been a hot topic of conversation in newspapers , magazines , news bulletins and in shops , homes and workplaces. The beautiful , poised Duchess is clearly style conscious and her chosen style is very elegant , conservative , demure , fitted , smart and sophisticated with her signature look being long classy dresses , black court heels , navy buttoned long coats , pretty print dresses etc. The whole world waited with baited breath on her wedding day the 29th April 2011 to awe at her wedding gown choice and Duchess Kate didn't disappoint , Kate wowed the world with an elegant and stunning white lace gown which mirrored that of Princess Grace Kelly's. Kate later changed into a plain Cinderella like white ball gown with a silver diamanté band and a little fur white bolero again looking every inch a Prince's wife. Kate's engagement photograph had shops working overtime as the official dress from  Issa (which matched her engagement ring , Diana's ring from Prince Charles) was sold out and copies from Tesco, Banana Republic and other retailers had royal fans and fashionista's bursting at the seams to get themselves a copy. Similarly ,last summer retailers jumped on the copy Kate's dress bandwagon when Kate stepped onto the steps on ST Mary's Hospital Paddington holding her new-born Son baby George in a light blue and white polka dot Jenny Peckham day dress - a homage to Princess Diana who wore a light green polka dot dress when Prince William was born. George at Asda sold an alternative dress which had women going crazy for and was sold out at five dresses a minute until stock ran out. Kate has been adored for her style choices recently as the media have been following Prince William , baby George and Kate on their royal tour in New Zealand and Australia. The Duchess hasn't put a style foot wrong as she met and greeted fans and the general public of New Zealand and OZ. Kate's spring style oozes class , sophistication , beauty where she has been papped in a lemon dress , black and white dress , safari print dress , her classic black courts amongst a beautiful selection of long stylish coats. Kate carried around her little bonny Prince George who has also became something of a style icon. George was photographed and videoed crawling around Government house Canberra Australia in a navy dungarees , white boat t-shirt and little navy shoes. The little bonny Prince was also sporting a blue striped top with blue shorts and a white polo-shirt and red cardigan ensemble with red shorts to match looking very cute and cuddly. I think its safe to say that Kate is passing on her love of style to her little baby Prince.

Below is a style diary of Kate commentating on her style choices and the occasion.
